Capricorn Ascendant/Rising
From first glance, capricorn ascendent projects a reserved, prudent, and cold personality. Capricorn risings are appreciated for their mature and practical viewpoint of the world. I find them to be very well put together because their personality isn’t overbearing, annoying, or fake. They are responsible and some of the most successful people alive.
They don't depend on others and sometimes need someone to force their help onto them. It’s admiring to see them so eager to take responsibility, but they can’t do everything. You could describe them as the old soul; mature, controlled and dependable. Sometimes they appear stoic or melancholic, but once you really get to know them, they’re not as depressing as they seem.
Whatever a Capricorn Rising chooses to do, they will become an expert in it. They are incredibly ambitious when striving one of their goals, sometimes to the point of ruthlessness. Their monotone voice combined with their cynical and sarcastic sense of humor can be off putting to most. Don't take their disposition personally though. They demand respect whether you think they deserve it or not. Once you give them respect, they will be much more willing to open up to you. Especially, if they are a fire or air sun sign.
Most Capricorn Risings turn out to be very different once you really get to know them. However, even if you do get to know them they will always be restricted or timid in some way. This can be good though because they be fun without the lack of dignity or maturity.
A stereotypical Capricorn Rising does get the rep for being arrogant. Which can be true, don't get me wrong, but I've met some that aren't completely conceited. Having a high opinion of yourself is not necessarily a bad thing. Capricorn risings do have it pretty difficult, so it's not surprising if they feel like they've “completed more” or are “superior" to you. Constantly, Saturn is bombarding them with lessons and setbacks. Finding ways to break the restrictions of Saturn can really put a damper on their life and even yours too. But, when these people reach a later age in life, they learn to really loosen up.
Appearance
Appearance wise, they’re pretty skinny. Body mass is minimal and/or lacking. Generally, capricorn risings range from a height of normal to short. The nose almost always stands out on their face and they have pretty nice teeth and bone structure. Capricorn rules the bones and skin, so they may have issues relating to those areas, or may be blessed. Their hair may be dark or straight and their eyes may present an earthy texture to them. Capricorn risings also have a traditional taste when it comes to the clothes and style. A profession look compliments them very well.
Decans
Decans are sections within a sign and are determined by amounts of degrees. Each decan is ruled by a different planet determining different traits within the sign itself.
The first decan of Capricorn rising is ruled by Saturn. This decan is 0-10 degrees in a birth chart. Because this decan is ruled by Saturn, it's not really different from the standard Capricorn Rising. But this does give a more Capricorny feel as compared to other Capricorn risings because the other decans are ruled by other planets. This placement is extra ambitious, solid, and Saturnian-like.
The second decan is ruled by Venus. This decan is 10-20 degrees in a birth chart. Venus is the planet of pleasures, desires, and beauty; they are inclined to be Taurus-like. Physically, this placement gives a ‘bigger’ and/or more beautiful look. With this decan, ambition is still present, except it will most likely be for material gain, wealth, or comfort. Approach to work is undertakes a steady, slow, and lazy course. It’s likely for this decan to indulge in food and luxurious items for long periods of time. Creative pursuits such as writing, art, or music is common for Taurus-Capricorn Rising. I’d also like to point out that this placement could also explain why some Capricorn risings are lazy or even egotistical.
The third decan is ruled by mercury. This decan is 20-30 degrees in a birth chart. Mercury rules the sign Virgo, so this will be the most hard working placement for Capricorn Rising. Discipline comes very easy giving a high tolerance to work. Work may include service to others, writing, communication, and organization. Capricorn risings of this decan are most mathematical and/or intelligent. The personality will be cautious and articulate. A word of advice for this placement, avoid over working to keep a balance in all areas of life.
I would like to discuss my personality, attributes, and appearance to further explain the position of Capricorn Ascendant. I am a Leo sun, with a Capricorn rising, and a moon in Virgo. To start off, I am a loner. It is extremely difficult for people to get to know me, not only because I have Neptune and Uranus in the first house, but my Capricorn Ascendant makes me appear reserved and unfriendly (as most Capricorn risings struggle with this). In many ways, I am the stereotypical Capricorn rising, situated in the corner of the room. I don’t go to parties often, and when I do, I never drink.
Practicality and intelligent things are important to me. Most would assume that Leos with Capricorn risings are arrogant. I’m way more serious compared to most Leos, that’s for sure. But I guess you could say I’m arrogant, but not to the core. The vibes I give off are condescending and maybe rude by some, but when people get to know me, I’m not really arrogant at all. I’m loving like a Leo :3. I just can’t stand stupid or annoying people. Loud people annoy me the most. If you’re a Capricorn rising you can probably totally relate.
And isn’t it so annoying when people tell you to smile more. I don’t know if it’s because people are used to seeing my Leoness or what, but damn, I’ll smile when I want. Expressing emotion isn’t easy for me, and that could mostly be my Virgo moon, but I’ve always felt restricting in any form of expression. My Saturn is also in the 3rd house, which would also explain. Listening is much more preferred for me rather than talking.
My sense of humor is also dark and sarcastic. Sometimes I can be cynical.
My Capricorn Rising is positioned in the 2nd decan of Capricorn, so I do have a Taurus like traits. Artistically, I am skilled than most and my hand writing is “girly.” I play the cello and I love music more than anything in the world. Money is also extremely important to me. I do love to indulge myself, but my Leo sun could also play a part in that, not just my Taurus decan. My work is slow, detailed, and thorough. I am a sufferer to laziness and procrastination.
Having Neptune in my first house, does give me that kind of “blue” look, but my Capricorn rising is obvious. My face is long like a Saturnian, and my nose stands out, but in a nice way. A Leo sun gives me curly hair, but I straighten my hair and would prefer it to be a darker color. I’m fairly short, ranging about 5 foot 3-4 and I’m pretty skinny.
